Do you listen to your gut? February 21, 2018 by Katie Herrmann“Your intuition connects you with all the nerve cells in your body. The butterflies you feel in your tummy – sometimes referred to as a ‘gut feeling’ – before an important decision are results of feeling the millions of nerve cells in there. The subconscious part of the brain sends signals to the nerves in the tummy to feel that way. What better way to make a decision than to listen to your full being (and not only your mind)?” – Susanna M. Halonen This is a question I ask myself, my husband, children, and friends frequently. The funny thing about this question is the answer can cause lot of over thinking when really it should be so simple. For example, my husband replies with confusion to this question. He may reply with “well, I guess I am not sure,” or “if only it was that easy.” My kids may reply with, “I think I should but I am nervous,” or “no, I don’t think that is what I am supposed to do.” What type of a response does this question produce for you? I can tell you for many years I knew what my gut was telling me. But I would override my gut feeling with a justification for another decision, so I could talk myself out of my intuition. I just wasn’t following my gut feeling on a lot of life-changing decisions. Now I am PROUD to say that I am in tune with my gut feelings. In fact, now I actually believe it is a STRENGTH of mine. I challenge my kids and my husband every day to dig deeper to better understand and trust their own gut. What does your GUT tell you to do today… right now… for your big life choices?
